Equestrian Bahamas
Policy for the Awarding and Wearing of Bahamian Flag Patches and other National Identification Symbols
Effective from 17 July 2025
PREAMBLE:
The following outlines the policy of Equestrian Bahamas (EB) for:
i) The wearing by Athletes of the Bahamian Flag jacket patch
ii) Representation of the Bahamian Flag or other approved National
Symbol(s) (e.g. Bahamas Coat of Arms, Bahamas Olympic Committee Insignia) on rider apparel and horse accessories (such as but not limited to saddle pads and head bonnets).
The policy applies to rider apparel and horse accessories worn in competition. “In competition” is defined as in the field of play, or in any warmup or practice area associated with an equestrian competition or event.
The use of The Bahamas flag, the colours of the National Team, the positioning of any National Emblem and the use of sponsors’ logos on all National Team competition gear may only be determined by Equestrian Bahamas and/or the Bahamas Olympic Committee.
Only Bahamas flag patches issued by Equestrian Bahamas or by the Bahamas Olympic Committee, through the EB Federation office, may be worn on riding jackets in competition.
1. Permanent entitlement to wear The Bahamas Flag Pocket Patch or to display other approved National Symbols
Only the following Athletes are entitled to receive and permanently wear The Bahamas Flag pocket patch on their competition apparel:
Those who after formal selection by EB are representing or have represented The Bahamas at:
- The Olympic or Para Olympic Games
- The World Equestrian Games
2. Entitlement to wear while participating in an international event or competition overseas
Athletes who have been nominated and entered by EB to represent The Bahamas in an international event or competition abroad are entitled to receive and wear The Bahamas Flag pocket patch and to display other approved National Symbols whilst participating in such event or competition.
- The wearing of a pocket flag on a competition jacket is for the duration of the nominated event or competition only and must be removed at the conclusion of the event or competition.
- Athletes nominated and entered by EB to participate in international events or competitions may use a saddlecloth with the Bahamian flag for the duration of the nominated event only.
Note: Authorization to participate in an international event does not indicate that the Athlete is representing The Bahamas. No athlete may represent The Bahamas in an international event, whether CIO or otherwise, unless nominated and entered by EB.
3. Entitlement to wear in competitions held locally where The Bahamas is represented
Athletes who have been nominated and entered by EB to represent The Bahamas in an international event or competition held within The Bahamas are entitled to receive and wear The Bahamas Flag pocket patch and to display other approved National Symbols whilst participating in such event or competition.
